Breastfeeding Support in Pretoria
Help that meets you where you are
Breastfeeding is natural, but that does not mean it comes naturally. Some moms find it straightforward from day one. Many do not, and there is nothing wrong with either of you when that happens.
SR Adéle offers hands-on, practical help with no judgement and no pressure. Whether you want to breastfeed exclusively, combine with formula, express, or work out how to stop kindly, we will help you get there.

What we can help with
Latching and positioning, and finding a hold that works for your body and your baby. Comfort, including sore or cracked nipples and engorgement. Questions about supply and whether your baby is getting enough. Cluster feeding, growth spurts and the wobbly weeks that follow them. Expressing, storing and safely handling breast milk. Combination feeding. And weaning gently when you are ready.
What a session looks like
You come in with your baby, ideally around a feed so we can watch one together. We talk through how things are going, help with the latch in real time, weigh your baby if that is useful, and send you home with a plan you can actually follow at 3am. If anything needs a doctor’s attention, we will tell you plainly and help you take the next step.
A breastfeeding consult is a full hour and costs R550.00, which is claimable from your medical aid – so bring your card with you. Consults are held at Zuid-Afrikaans Hospital, Main Entrance Corridor, 255 Bourke Street, Muckleneuk, Pretoria, 0002, inside Dr. Jana Bloem’s Consulting Room. If you would like to come back, each follow-up is booked and billed as another consult. We do not offer home visits.
Expressing and going back to work
Going back to work does not have to mean the end of breastfeeding. We will help you build a realistic expressing rhythm, work out storage and transport, and prepare whoever is caring for your baby during the day. We also stock the practical bits that make it easier, from milk collectors and storage bags to feeding pillows.
Looking after yourself
Feeding a baby is hard physical work, and you need feeding too. Eat regularly, drink more water than feels necessary, and rest whenever the opportunity appears. Many breastfeeding moms also keep a daily omega-3 and a collagen booster on the counter – you are welcome to collect ours free from either clinic.
